Magic Shows:
What is a Magic Show?
A Magic Show is designed to Amuse, Amaze and Astound. Using psychology and manipulative skill a magician can create illusions, which truly appear incredible.
It is an experience which everyone should have at least once in their lives.
Tom says: "I can still remember the first magic show I saw when I was 8 years old. It was at our school's christmas party. A magician had solid rings of steel and actually made them link together in a very convincing manner. It left my mind reeling because it was evidently an incredible feat. I don't remember much else except that the rabbit he made appear was running around the room after the magician had gone. This left the impression that he made rabbits appear at will."
The method used to accomplish any effect is generally secondary to good presentation. In a magician's mind the key to a successful piece of magic is making the effect entertaining to watch.
That being said it still may take years to build up the skill level to be able to pull certain illusions off.
The end result is almost always an audience left in wonderment.
It is interesting to note differing reactions, though, within the scope of wonderment. And this is why a magic show can be a versatile tool depending on the requirements of the audience.
A high-school class may need to project the message that further investigation is necessary in a project as initial appearances can be deceiving.
A primary school audience will enjoy the fact that the world is full of wonder.
A 21st birthday party may enjoy the fact that someone has been fooled.
Magic can also be used simply to generate interest in a topic or theme.
It has also been successfully employed to draw attention to a product at exhibitions.
As a matter of fact the Cups and Balls routine has been used throughout the ages to create interest in something being sold.
