The skill of creating art with balloons
Although balloon twisting began in the early 1950's, the last few years have seen balloon artists come up with incredible novel designs as a result of idea sharing between balloon professionals around the world. Digital photography, digital media and the internet have greatly enriched the idea pool and any balloon professional can now improve his or her art enormously if they are willing to put forth the effort and do the research. To become a good balloon twister there are no shortcuts, though, and it will take practice. Each design must be learned, like the choreography to a dance, or the notes to a song.
Once a number of balloon designs have been mastered, improvisation becomes possible as the methods to accomplish various effects become familiar to the balloon artist.
Tom has clocked up over 4000 hours of balloon twisting and there are few in the Melbourne area that can compete with his balloon manipulating skill.
The Guinness world record for making a balloon dog is 7 seconds.
Tom can make a 7 second poodle behind his back, while balancing a balloon sword on his nose.

Hi Tom, Just a quick note to say thanks so very much for coming to our wedding and balloon twisting. You being there really helped to create such a fun atmosphere. Everybody absolutely loved the balloons and was commenting on just what a great idea it was to have you there. The balloon creatures were being paraded around for the rest of the night. They were absolutely fantastic. You may also be interested to know that once Michael gave me my balloon tiara, I wore it for the rest of the night. It was absolutely perfect. Once again, thanks so much for coming and for helping to make our wedding so unique. Many thanks, Narissa
